Entered the International Symposium of Sculpture in<br \/>\nSylt, Germany, where he met Nils Udo.<\/li>\n<li>1989\u00a0: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Awarded the Florence Blumenthal prize by a jury that included Jean Bazaine and Yvon Lambert.<\/li>\n<li>1990\u00a0:\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 Organized a personal exhibition at the Art and History Museum of Saint Denis, France.<\/li>\n<li>1991\u00a0: \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 Held a one-man exhibition at the Art and History Museum in Colombes, France.<br \/>\nParticipated in public collections e.g. the Art and History Museum of Colombes, France, as well as in private collections and foundations.<br \/>\nRegular exhibitions in galleries, in International Contemporary Art Fairs and museums in France and abroad (Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, The United-States of America and Japan).<\/li>\n<li>2012:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Awarded the Charles Malfray prize, Foundation Taylor, Paris.<\/li>\n<li>2022\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Organized a personal exhibition, Foundation\u00a0Arp Clamart<\/li>\n<li>2023:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Organized a personal exhibition, Foundation de Coubertin Museum of Saint-R\u00e9my L\u00e8s Chevreuse, France.<sup>4<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/6\/6a\/Ordre_des_Arts_et_des_Lettres_Chevalier_ribbon.svg\/120px-Ordre_des_Arts_et_des_Lettres_Chevalier_ribbon.svg.png\" alt=\"Vignette pour la version du 10 novembre 2015 \u00e0 10:17\" width=\"37\" height=\"12\" \/> Appointed Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by Madam Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak in 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As an artist, Jean-Michel FICHOT has created his own language using distortion and repetition of forms in search of new spatial situations, and he finds his inspiration in direct contact with matter and volume.\u00a0 Marie-Claude Lambotte refered to a \u00abphilosophy of form\u00bb in the article she devoted to him in 1988 in the publication Fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie<sup>1<\/sup>. One could also willingly refer to poetics of sculpture which cannot be limited to a unique view whether it is critical, literary, philosophical, psychoanalytic or sociological.<\/p>\n<p>Figurative forms are treated as abstractions insofar as that they do not aim to represent a story in a colourful or in a trivial way. There is a real concern to find a rhythm, a movement, a phrasing, a tenseness and a matter.\u00a0 Distortion, a sort of metaphorical condensation, combines with repetition, a sort of metonymical displacement of desire, each sculpture emerges at the intersection of two diachronic and chronological axes.\u00a0 There is a dual-reference system, a reference to history and to a collective memory on one hand, as well as a self-reference by means of repetition and use of similar modules from one sculpture to the next and there lies the source of his own personal identity.<\/p>\n<div>\n<pre id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traduction\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Frenzy<em><sup>1<\/sup><\/em>: \u00a0HYSTERY. Dans l\u2019article qu\u2019elle lui a consacr\u00e9 en 1988 pour la revue Fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie, Marie-Claude Lambotte parle de \u00ab philosophie de la forme \u00bb, on parlerait aussi volontiers de po\u00e9tique de la sculpture qui ne peut se r\u00e9duire \u00e0 un seul discours qu\u2019il soit critique, litt\u00e9raire, philosophique, psychanalytique ou sociologique. Les formes figuratives sont trait\u00e9es comme des abstractions dans la mesure o\u00f9 elles ne visent pas \u00e0 figurer de fa\u00e7on imag\u00e9e, anecdotique, une histoire. Il y a le souci de trouver un rythme, un mouvement, un phras\u00e9, une mise en tension, une mati\u00e8re. La d\u00e9formation, sorte de condensation m\u00e9taphorique se conjugue avec la r\u00e9p\u00e9tition, sorte de d\u00e9placement m\u00e9tonymique du d\u00e9sir, chaque sculpture se situant dans le temps au croisement des deux axes diachronique et chronologique. Il y a un syst\u00e8me de double r\u00e9f\u00e9rence, r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 l\u2019histoire et \u00e0 la m\u00e9moire collective d\u2019une part et auto r\u00e9f\u00e9rence par le biais de la r\u00e9p\u00e9tition et de l\u2019utilisation de modules analogues d\u2019une sculpture \u00e0 l\u2019autre, c\u2019est en cela qu\u2019il trouve son identit\u00e9 propre.<\/p>\n<div><em>Fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie<sup>1<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0:<br \/>\nHYSTERUS.
